Logo Design for Trouble with Trebles:
Trouble with Trebles was a Portland-based vocal group specializing in music from the 1920s to the 1950s. As the group evolved musically, they occasionally sought to refresh their image and branding. I took on this project not only as a member of the group (until its closure during COVID) but because I wanted to ensure we presented a polished image, both on stage and off.
Inspired by the group’s repertoire, I researched early 20th-century design trends, particularly the Art Deco style of the 1920s. After sketching several ideas, I presented five concepts to the group. The diamond-shaped, Art Deco-inspired design quickly became the favorite, reminiscent of logos seen on vintage posters from the 1920s and 30s, capturing the timeless flair of that era.
I created the “TWT” initials in Adobe Illustrator by drawing and merging custom shapes, while the full name used the Breamcatcher typeface. After experimenting with various color schemes, we chose a refined purple and gold palette for the final design.
